Frances Wilbur

American author. Born in Minnesota. She studied English but then trained as a cryptanalyst. She lived in Spain and Italy for a time before returning to the USA to settle in California. There her life took a turn towards horses when she joined a riding club and married her second husband. Together the pair ran a camp teaching riding, combined training and horse care. Ms. Wilbur's first book was a non-fictional work aimed at the parents of horsy kids. Despite suffering a stroke, she continued to write, penning a fictional horse story and a dog/wolf  story, both of which were critically acclaimed. She was working on more books, including a second pony novel but sadly passed away in 2006 before they could be published.
